Steam showers need a steam generator, a dedicated water supply, a drain line and an electrical circuit. We install the generator, plumb the supply and drain, and connect the steam head. A licensed electrician handles the circuit. Steam showers also need sealed enclosures and sloped ceilings.
Curbless Shower Installation in South Lakes
Curbless showers have no step, which makes them easier to use and gives a modern look. They require a recessed floor and careful drain placement, often with a linear drain. On a slab, we may need to lower the floor in the shower area. We work closely with your contractor to plan the slope and waterproof layers.
Walk-in Shower Installation in South Lakes
Walk-in showers offer accessibility and a modern look, and CKN Plumbing is experienced with their installation. We handle the necessary drain relocation, waterproofing, and tile work to create a beautiful and functional walk-in shower. Frequently Asked Questions About Shower Installation in South Lakes
The cost of shower installation in South Lakes, AK can vary widely, typically ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the shower type, materials, and complexity of plumbing changes. A basic tub-shower combo might be on the lower end, while a custom tiled walk-in shower with multiple features will be higher. We provide a detailed, upfront estimate after assessing your specific project.
Signs your old shower needs replacement include persistent leaks that damage walls or floors, extensive mold or mildew that returns despite cleaning, severe cracks in the shower pan or enclosure, or outdated plumbing that constantly fails. If repairs are becoming frequent and costly, replacement is often the more economical long-term solution. Short, mild summers give owners a narrow window for exterior plumbing work, so sewer and well projects are often scheduled well ahead.
DIY shower installation is usually not recommended due to the complexity of plumbing connections, waterproofing, and local building codes. Improper installation can lead to costly leaks, water damage, mold growth, and unsafe conditions. Hiring a professional like CKN Plumbing ensures the job is done correctly, safely, and to code, saving you potential headaches and expenses down the line.

CKN Plumbing installs a wide range of reputable shower brands, including but not limited to Kohler, Moen, Delta, American Standard, and Sterling. We can work with any brand you prefer or recommend options based on your budget and desired features, ensuring quality and availability for South Lakes homeowners.
A standard shower stall installation can often be completed in one to two days. More complex projects, such as custom walk-in showers with extensive tile work or plumbing rerouting, might take three to five days, or even longer. We provide a clear timeline during your initial consultation.
Valves and fixtures carry manufacturer warranties, many lifetime for the original owner. We also stand behind our workmanship.
